The Pokemon Company International has released a new video showcasing a brand of Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, known as Greavard. This new Ghost-type Pokemon was teased in a short video yesterday and has now been revealed as the 20th new Pokemon to join the roster for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Meet The Ghost Dog Pokemon Greavard in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!
Greavard is officially the 20th new Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the previous one being the signature Pokemon of the Electric-type Gym Leader Iono, Bellibolt.
It was revealed in a short, live footage style video from the perspective of a Naranja Academy student. The student seemed to fall victim to Greavard’s ability to suck the life force out of those around it. A new trailer was also released showcasing what Greavard would look like in-game
According to the official Pokemon Scarlet and Violet website, Greavard is known as the Ghost Dog Pokemon, is pure Ghost type, is 2 feet tall, weighs 77.2 pounds, and has the ability Pickup, which lets it pick up items used by opposing Pokemon or randomly pick up items outside of battle.
It has powerful jaws that can apparently shatter bones, though it chooses to be friendly and is in fact one of the easiest Pokemon in Paldea to befriend.
“Normally, Greavard barely moves, resting peacefully underground. It pokes the topmost part of its head above ground and lights an eerie glow at its tip, then waits for someone to approach. When a person draws near, Greavard jumps out of the ground while letting out a spooky cry that would startle most unsuspecting people. However, it doesn’t appear to do this with ill intent.”
Because it inadvertently sucks the life force out of those around it, it is ill-advised to play with it for too long. Around the same time as Greavard’s reveal, the Pokemon Company also released an additional live-action trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to advise the game itself in the lead-up to their release date.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set to release on November 18, 2022, exclusively for Nintendo Switch exclusive. Players can pre-order the game now to get a variety of in-game rewards and access to special forms.
