The Pokemon Company has released a brand new trailer officially revealing a brand new Pokemon, Bellibolt. This Pokemon was originally teased in an October 12 presentation introducing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s new Electric-type Gym Leader, Iono.
Meet Bellibolt in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!
The new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer have revealed a brand new Pokemon, Bellibolt, which is the signature Pokemon of the Electric-type Gym Leader, Iono! Iono is a streamer and influencer in the Paldea, and originally teased the introduction of Bellibolt in an October 12 presentation that was streamed live on the official Pokemon YouTube Channel.
This is the 19th newest Pokemon or variant introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the previous one being Wiglett.
We now have official confirmation of what her signature Pokemon is, and it perfectly fits the description she originally provided. A second trailer was released shortly after the steam that provided a look at what Iono and Bellibolt will look like in-game, along with new official key artwork for both on the official Pokemon Scarlet and Violet website.
According to ot the website, Bellibolt is known as the ElecFrog Pokemon, is pure Electric-type, is 3’11, weighs 249.1 lbs, and has one of two abilities: Static or Electromorphis. Static paralyzes foes that make physical contact with the user, and Electromorphis is a brand new ability that boosts the power of the next Electric move Bellibolt uses after it takes damage.
It is unknown at this time if this only applies to actual attacking moves, or if status moves and/or entry hazards also impact the ability. It is most likely the former.
The description for Bellibolt reads:
Bellibolt expands and contracts its elastic body to generate electricity in an organ that looks like a belly button. The huge amount of electricity generated this way is then discharged from the two bumps on either side of its head that resemble eyeballs. Its actual eyes are adorable small and round, so when it tries to be intimidating, it puts the eyelike bumps to good use.
It is also described as being naturally easygoing and often does not attack unless attacked first.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are just around the corner and are set to release on November 18, 2022, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Players can pre-order the game now to receive special in-game bonuses.
