The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) will have a science exhibition where the main actors will be Pokémon. Yes, Pokémon. Man, I sometimes wish I was a kid again… and Japanese.
The exhibit will be called: “Pokemón Lab: You Do It! You Discover!”. Runs from July 08 to October 12, 2015 and it promises to make learning fun for the whole family. The exhibit will close every Tuesday (open on Tuesdays during July 21 – August 25) and will be from 10:00 – 17:00 (Entrance closes 30 minutes prior to museum closing time.).
The exhibit will teach visitors about the scientific method using various Pokemón-inspired games and activities. A history of the Pokémon franchise and an examination of the development of telecommunications technology in home video game consoles will also play a part in the exhibit.
This exhibition will take place at the “Pokémon Lab”, that will be located on the first floor of the museum, where visitors will act as research assistants and take on a variety of missions. These missions are separated into different difficulty levels, so visitors all ages can enjoy them. The exhibition will also explain the history and long-lasting appeal of Pokémon, along with the development of communications technology in game consoles.
This special exhibition provides an opportunity to experience the scientific process by playing and thinking together with Pokémon.
The admission fees for the exhibit are:
- Adults (19 and older): 1,600 yen (about USD $13).
- Student (18 to summer student): 1,200 yen (about USD $10).
- Children (3 to summer student): 500 yen (about USD $4).
Take a look a this. Oh, it’s only in Japanese, sorry. But it explains a bit better the exhibit.
Since the release of the first game in 1996, Pokémon has become an international hit spanning across borders, cultures and generations. This special exhibition presents entertaining experiences to learn about scientific methods and processes such as observation and classification, with Pokémon as the subjects.
