Pokemon Unite is finally out for Nintendo Switch. If you’re planning on diving into this free-to-play new Pokemon MOBA, you’re going to want to learn how to earn the game’s five separate currency types. That’s right — Pokemon Unite has five separate currency types. And each and every one of them has its perks.
With so much going on, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Nothing’s worse than quickly losing interest in a promising game because certain gameplay systems are confusing. Thankfully, we’re here to help. Without further ado, here are the ways to earn Aeos Coins, Aeos Tickets, Fashion Tickets, Holowear Tickets, and Gems.
How to Earn All Types of Currency in Pokemon Unite
Aeos Coins
It makes good sense for us to begin with Aeos Coins because out of all the different currency types, they’re the most common in Pokemon Unite. You’re going to be seeing a lot of Aeos Coins during your journey through the new first-ever Pokemon MOBA since you can win them several ways. Most often, you’ll win them simply by participating in online matches. That’s right, all you need to do is what you’ll likely be doing plenty of times no matter what.
Other ways of earning Aeos Coins include daily quests. Again, easy-peasy. Various training stints are just as handy here. Pokemon Unite is chock full of Aeos Coins, folks.
All that generosity from developer TiMi Studios really pays off because you use Aeos Coins for new licenses. You can find these licenses at the Battle Committee screen. Right now, there are twenty Pokémon to “catch” in Pokemon Unite. This is a big, handy method of obtaining them.
And remember, while twenty might not sound like a lot relative to the hundreds upon hundreds of Pokemon in the franchise, this is a MOBA. Having that many unique controllable characters would be madness, especially at launch!
Aeos Tickets
Confusingly enough, Pokemon Unite Aeos currency comes in both coins and tickets. Aeos Tickets are purely for cosmetic purchases in this new Pokemon MOBA, like several different types of clothing. No, this isn’t for your Pokemon; it’s for your trainer! Though who wouldn’t want to bundle up on a cold winter’s night with a Charizard wearing a stylish hoodie? That’d be even warmer.
Again, daily events are handy. You’ll earn a few Aeos Tickets per day this way. Other methods of obtaining this currency include leveling up your trainer (remember, your trainer level is important!) and — perhaps most frightening of all so early into Pokemon Unite — via rank battles. Go out there and be the very best!
Fashion Tickets
Next up are Fashion Tickets. We’re listing these ahead of Holowear Tickets for a reason that will soon become apparent. Fashion Tickets are used at the Aeos Emporium’s Fashion Exchange. This is another way of acquiring clothing and accessories and the items for your previewing pleasure are separate from the ones you’ll find through Aeos Tickets.
Research Institute missions are the best way to earn Fashion Ticket currency in Pokemon Unite. If it wasn’t already apparent, this game has a lot of content at launch and decent reasons to pursue it all.
Holowear Tickets
You’ve probably already guessed that this has something to do with cosmetics as well. However, unlike Aeos Tickets and Fashion Tickets, this actually does pertain to your Pokemon themselves. Different skins, for example, can transform your typical Talonflame into something truly special. Mind you, not every skin is purchasable via Holowear Tickets. (There’s always a catch.)
In order to spend Holowear Tickets, you’ll have to visit Zirco Trading. The predominant way to obtain these is to max out your Battle Pass so that you can start obtaining Battle Pass Chests. You’ll accrue Holowear Tickets at a fairly reliable clip at this point but it does take some work to get here. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Gems
You knew this was coming. Every free-to-play game, and surely every MOBA, is invariably going to have a way for players to bypass all the hubbub and get stuff quickly… for a real-world price. Pokemon Unite is no different, and like an awful lot of F2P games, the currency is called gems.
Sadly, certain outfits at Zirco Trading are only acquirable in this fashion. Hey, so it goes, right? Gems are purchasable at several tiers, from 60 for $1 to a whopping 6,000 for $60. It’s your money and all, but we’d advise you to see how laborious the grind for various other currencies feels to you before dropping a ton of cash into Pokemon Unite.
And That’s a Wrap
Are you getting the hang of Pokemon Unite currency now? We’ll be sure to keep you covered with a plethora of guides in the weeks to come. A MOBA with a license like Pokemon attached is sure to attract hundreds of thousands of players or more, so do your best to keep up with the competition through a hefty helping of Aeos Coins, Aeos Tickets, Fashion Tickets, Holowear Tickets, and… possibly gems!
