Pokemon Unite, the MOBA that has been rocking the Nintendo community for the last three months, has announced its first seasonal event. The game has done increasingly well since the mobile release last month. In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, a Halloween Festival is coming out tomorrow. Greedent the Squirrel Pokemon Comes to Unite!
It’s true, Greedent, classified as The Greedy Pokemon, will join the Unite line-up starting tomorrow. For any unaware of who Greedent is, it was the token Normal type of Pokemon Sword and Shield. Like most token Pokemon like this, it could be found early in the game in its pre-evolved form Skwovet. It was known for being relatively bulky during the original game. Based on this, many fans think it could be the same in Pokemon Unite. No official details about its battle type have been announced. That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating, of course. Some believe it could be a tanky Defender, like Slowbro. Others think it could be an Attacker or All-Arounder.
Some fans of Pokemon Unite are focused less on Greedent’s competitive chances and more on the pick itself. Understandably, the big guy isn’t very spooky. A Halloween Festival with a squirrel as the main attraction? Many were hoping for something like Mimikyu or another Ghost-type. But with the rest of the festival in mind, it starts to make sense. Let’s see what else this update has in store.
Not Just Halloween, Also a Bit of Autumn
The Pokemon Unite Halloween Festival is set to go from 10/20 to 11/07. Since Halloween is only one of those days, there’s more in store. Of course, there are plenty of atmospheric changes to both maps and attacks to get spooky with. There are also some new costumes and clothes for trainers and Pokemon alike. Beyond all that though, is a comfy selection of fall attire. Get those scarves and wool hats ready because the Pokemon are already rocking them.
Multiple Pokemon besides Charizard here are expected to get new costumes from the fall catalog. One of those is fan-favorite Wigglytuff, who has yet to receive a single Holowear! It also looks like Wigglytuff will be receiving a second, exclusive Holowear style. The trailer shows Wigglytuff sporting a set of pajamas to go with the Sing combo it commonly uses in the game.
Certainly, the Pokemon Unite Halloween Festival brings things to all kinds of fans. Are you looking forward to the update? What about the new addition, Greedent? Let us know in the comments!
