The new MOBA-style game, Pokemon Unite, now has an official release date. Along with the release date, an electrifyingly good launch gift has also been announced in a new trailer.
Pokemon Unite is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch later this month for free. In-game purchases allow trainers to unlock other Pokemon and new cosmetics. However, anyone who downloads the game before August 31 will receive the Mythical Pokemon Zeraora for free.
Zeraora was announced on Twitter and in a new trailer (which can be seen below). A tweet described the mythical Pokemon, “This Electric-type Mythical Pokémon is fast as lightning, catching opponents and dealing massive damage in the blink of an eye. Zeraora’s Unite Move sends out a powerful electric blast, creating a zone of plasma around its strike zone.”
The starting roster for Pokemon Unite will include the 2o following Pokemon: Pikachu, Charizard, Snorlax, Crustle, Greninja, Eldegoss, Talonflame, Lucario, Venusaur, Mr. Mime, Slowbro, Absol, Machamp, Wigglytuff, Alolan Ninetales, Cramorant, Gengar, Garchomp and Cinderace. In most cases, players will start with the first form of a Pokemon, and, like in the original games, they will evolve and grow stronger as they level up.
Gameplay for Pokemon Unite revolves around two teams battling to collect Aeos Energy and experience points. Eventually, each Pokemon will earn a powerful Unite Move, but this move looks different for each one of them.
The Pokemon Unite release date is scheduled for July 21 on Nintendo Switch. The MOBA-style game will be free upon release but does include the option for in-game purchases. A mobile release has been promised for later this year, and cross-play will be available.
