BOOM! Studios announced its sequel miniseries, The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II. Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) returns to the crossover series with artist Dan Mora (Batman’Superman: World’s Finest). It serves as a follow-up to Parrott’s 2019 miniseries of the same name when he was paired with artist Simone di Meo. BOOM! Studios’ Senior Editor said about the miniseries: “The first Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles team up resulted in iconic moments such as the reveal of the Green Ranger Shredder, the Ninja Rangers, and the mighty Turtlezord! But if you think there’s nothing that could top that, just wait ‘til you see what’s up next for both teams as they face familiar faces and unexpected villains in an adventure full of the new shocking twists and turns!”
How Do The Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Crossover in This Series?
These two properties are being produced under license by Hasbro and in partnership with both IDW Publishing and Nickelodeon. The 2019 series saw the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver, join the ranks of the Foot Clan only to have his Green Ranger abilities stolen by Shredder. The rest of the Rangers entrusted their morphers to the turtles, which saw the turtles experience one of the greatest transformations they’ve ever endured. The miniseries served as a kind of redemption story for the two franchises after their poorly received live-action crossover in 1998’s Power Rangers In Space episode.
Some information can be gleaned from the wraparound cover despite not much being known about the sequel’s story yet. We see the two teams fight a balanced combination of Foot Clan members and Putty Patrollers. The space alien Krang watches the battle from the edge of the cover. BOOM! Studios currently publish a regular ongoing series for the Rangers while IDW produces the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ ongoing. Their teams and stories are a far cry from what you might remember of their live-action counterparts.
An exact date for the crossover miniseries hasn’t been given, but it’s expected to launch in December 2022.
