Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for the second and final season of Carnival Row. The period fantasy drama premiered on Prime Video in 2019, and the upcoming season two was filmed in 2020. The show is set in a city where supernatural refugees are at odds with human beings. Orlando Bloom’s character, Inspector Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate, was focused on solving a series of murders while also rekindling a dangerous affair with refugee faerie, Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne). Both Bloom and Delevingne will reprise their roles, as will Tamzin Merchant and David Gyasi as  Imogen Spurnrose and her supernatural lover Agreus Astrayon.
Trailer Teases Final Season of ‘Carnival Row’
Carnival Row is ending after only two seasons. While it only has a 57% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, it has an 88% from audiences who love the show’s uniqueness. The low critical score may have played some role in the show’s abrupt end. However, various other factors did the show some harm. The Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the birth of Bloom’s daughter, caused long filming delays. The fact that viewers had to wait three years for a second season of Carnival Row has caused many of them to lose interest. Prime Video is likely aware that getting those viewers back is a major challenge, making a renewal for future seasons more costly than its worth.
While Carnival Row is ending, at least one of the stars should survive the loss. Bloom will soon be seen in Grand Turismo. And with her fashion line and other endeavors, Delevingne should still keep herself busy.
The final season of Carnival Row will premiere on Prime Video on February 17. The show will release two episodes a week over a period of five weeks.
