Lisa Marie Presley’s will is being contested in court. Priscilla Presley contested Lisa’s will in documents filed less than a week after her daughter’s burial. Get the details below.
Priscilla Presley Contests Lisa Marie Presley’s Will
Priscilla Presley is contesting “the authenticity and validity” of Lisa Marie Presley’s will. The businesswoman filed documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, challenging a “purported 2016 amendment” to the will. The amendment ousted her as a trustee.
According to the documents obtained by Page Six, Priscilla asked a judge to determine the amendment’s validity. The amendment names Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, and her late son, Benjamin Keough, as successor co-trustees.
The amendment also allegedly removed Lisa Marie’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, from the trust. This means Riley is the sole trustee after her brother died by suicide in 2020.
Priscilla claimed she and Siegel were first named co-trustees on January 29, 1993. Then, Lisa Marie “executed a revocable living trust, which she amended and completely restated on Jan. 27, 2010.”
Priscilla Presley Had No Knowledge Of Lisa Marie’s New Will Amendment
Priscilla Presley stated that she only found out about the new amendment in Lisa Marie Presley’s will after she died. Lisa Marie died on January 12 after a cardiac arrest. Meanwhile, the new amendment was dated March 11, 2016.
The actress also alleged in the docs that her daughter’s signature on the 2016 document “appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature.” She further argued that Lisa Marie’s name had a wrong spelling.
The actress claimed that the document was neither notarized nor delivered to her during Lisa Marie’s lifetime. According to Priscilla, this was a condition in the 2010 trust arrangement.
Priscilla further noted that she believes Barry “has already or will soon resign as a co-trustee of the Trust.” In such a situation, Riley becomes a co-trustee with Priscilla for the trust, and every other subsequent trust created.
Lisa Marie’s financial troubles are well known, especially her lawsuit against former manager Barry Siegel. The singer accused him of negligence and mismanagement while Barry countersued for $800,000.
The ex-manager claimed that Lisa Marie’s extravagant lifestyle led to her financial ruin. He also concluded that she was only looking for who to pin the blame upon. Lisa Marie was worth about $10 million when she died.
