QUByte Interactive is thrilled to announce their upcoming Metroidvania experience, Project Colonies: MARS 2120. Players are given action on all fronts in this 2.5D side-scrolling adventure as Lt. Anna “Charlotte” Right. We’re on a mission from Earth to Mars, which ultimately sets up the conflict in space. Project Colonies: MARS 2120 will be coming to all major platforms sometime in the near future.
Investigate the Situation on Mars in Project Colonies
In the 22nd century, humans have come together in order to expand their races into the cosmos. With the UN agreeing on terms and regulations, they begin to colonize their surrounding fellow planets. These include Venus and Jupiter, but Mars is the first planet for us to explore and establish.
However, something is wrong with the colony on Mars. A distress call has been sent to Earth, and it’s up to Anna “Charlotte” Right to lead a team and find out what went wrong. As fate would have it, strange creatures are running amok on the colony. It’s time to sort this mess out. And Charlotte does so with her growing array of abilities for platforming and combat. It’s in classic Metroidvania fashion, with backtracking and collecting playing vital roles in the gameplay.
But Project Colonies: MARS 2120 is taking the genre in a more modern approach. With this in mind, players will be able to fast-travel using the in-game terminals; commence New Game+ to play the game once more but with all of your acquired abilities; accessibility options to configure colorblind mode; there’s also a scarf that’s apparently important, though details on that are scarce. We can also expect to see some scripted scenes to keep us invested in the narrative.
Project Colonies: MARS 2120 is currently in development by QUByte Interactive, so no specific release date has been disclosed as of yet. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. Of course, you can wishlist the game on Steam to stay updated with its progress. And if you have other Metroidvania games on your radar, let us know what they are down in the comments!
