The holidays are all about the spirit of giving gifts and being unselfish. While retailers are usually far more generous with their pricing around this time period, I can’t say I have seen many give away their expensive products for free, let alone earn their consumers a profit. Well a Facebook user is claiming that is exactly what happened when he purchased a PS4 Pro Bundle.
According to a recent post to the FB group Dumpster Fire Ultra, UK native Jack – whose last name is excluded for privacy reasons – earned the deal of a lifetime following some confusion with his purchase of a PS4 Pro Bundle. The day before Black Friday, Jack went online and purchased a bundle – one which featured Star Wars Battlefront 2, GT Sport, Fallout 4, Knowledge is Power and an extra DualShock 4 all for £229.99 – from the British electrical retailer Currys.
Jack states the low price point of £229.99 for the bundle was an error, but he took his chances none the less. Unsurprisingly, the next day the order was canceled. After a conversation with the social media team, he was informed that prices would be honored and he would be contacted soon. Fast forward three weeks and the following occurs.
“The £229.99 bundle is £542 at this point, so Curry’s send the people who bought this bundle a £313 gift card to bring it from £542 to £229,” Jack wrote. “BUT they say you can spend the gift card on whatever you want. I got my gift card yesterday and buy the £299.99 FIFA 18 bundle and still have £13 left, all for free.”
So not only did Jack get fully refunded, he used the gift card on a similar bundle, netting him a PS4 Pro (and FIFA 18) for free with money left over. Obviously it took some cheeky finagling, and a bit of luck, to obtain the bundle this way. It’s up in the air as to whether any other consumers who purchased the deal will be able to take advantage of the error as well though, as many users on the HotUKDeals forum have stated they aren’t receiving the voucher, only a refund.
Interestingly enough, Jack stated that another bundle was subject to a pricing error as well.
“The people who bought the £199.99 bundle got a £298 gift card, and the people who bought the £229.99 bundle got a £313 gift card.”
