The PS5 DualSense controller issue sparks a class lawsuit that Sony now has to face. This legal action is from the same US-based law office, Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP, which handled the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con drift in 2020. With almost the same drifting issue happening in Sony PlayStation 5’s controller, it seems like history is about to repeat itself.
Gamers are now taking matters to court as the PS5 DualSense controller joystick issue is getting out of hand. Aside from frustrating in-game movement, some reports that the drift causes character or menu motion even if the player is not using the joystick. This makes playing the games near impossible.
The lawsuit is against the Sony Corporation of America and Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC on behalf of PlayStation 5 owner Lmarc Turner and other affected plaintiffs.
The document submitted at The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York talks about the defect in PlayStation 5 DualSense that compromises its functionality. The complaint also included the problems of the controller drifting that makes the characters move unintentionally. They also noted that Sony is already aware of this issue but did not make this information known to its customers.
It is understandable that brand new consoles usually have individual cases of glitches and manufacturing failures. Still, with this lawsuit, it seems like this PlayStation 5 controller issue is more widespread than expected.
Currently, PlayStation 5 is still having stock issues as it still cannot supply all the demand. Players who got a hold of the console are probably having a slight problem with its controller. It is also possible that this DualSense issue only involves a small demographic of players.
