Every patch on the League of Legends Public Beta Environment is sure to come with its fair share of surprises. Whether data-mined, accidentally leaked or intentionally revealed, these unveilings are always a thrill. This time, the PBE has a very pleasant surprise for dedicated support players everywhere: Pulsefire Thresh!
The PBE Discovery
The popular Skin Spotlights YouTube channel first revealed this skin to the general public shortly after the PBE was taken down for maintenance. The November 5th PBE patch ignited discussion among support mains everywhere. Riot Games has been talking about giving Thresh a prestige edition skin for a little while now. According to Dexerto, everyone was immediately certain that Pulsefire Thresh would be the one. As it turns out, the fans were right!
League of Legends support champions haven’t seen any love since prestige edition skins were first introduced. It is only fitting that Thresh to be the first support to receive one! Right now, the PBE indicates that standard Pulsefire Thresh will be an epic skin, for sale at 1350 RP. The prestige version of the skin will, of course, be purchasable for 100 Prestige Points.
Visual Analysis
Thematically, the skin differs slightly from others in the Pulsefire series. Typically, Pulsefire skins feature a blend of human elements with cybernetic implants. Cyborgs, essentially. However, Thresh isn’t human, to begin with. He’s undead! This distinction provides the opportunity for something new and exciting in the Pulsefire line: Thresh seems to be pure robot! The Chain Warden’s iconic lantern and hook are traded in for a power-core-like coil mechanism and a cyber-sickle akin to a hook-shaped lightsaber. It’s utterly sick, in the best possible way.
Rumor has it that Pulsefire Thresh will not be the last prestige edition skin in 2019. Furthermore, there are also whispers that the season’s final prestige skin will be given to Lee Sin. Stay tuned for more prestige edition news.
