DreamWorks Animation has officially released the first trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, the long-awaited sequel to the 2011 film Puss in Boots, set to release on September 23, 2022. The film will release over 10 years since the original Shrek spin-off.

In the Puss in Boots: The Last Wish trailer, the titular daring outlaw Puss in Boots soon discovers that his dangerous life is starting to take its toll – literally. Having burned through 8 of his 9 lives, Puss (Antonio Banderas) sets out on his greatest adventure through the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star to get them back.
“This fall, everyone’s favorite leche-loving, swashbuckling, fear-defying feline returns. For the first time in more than a decade, DreamWorks Animation presents a new adventure in the Shrek universe as daring outlaw Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for peril and disregard for safety have taken their toll. Puss has burned through eight of his nine lives, though he lost count along the way. Getting those lives back will send Puss in Boots on his grandest quest yet. Academy Award® nominee Antonio Banderas returns as the voice of the notorious PiB as he embarks on an epic journey into the Black Forest to find the mythical Wishing Star and restore his lost lives”, the official description reads.
The Puss in Boots: The Last Wish trailer also confirms the return of Salma Hayek also returns in her role as Kitty Softpaws, Puss’s partner and archnemesis. The chatty, relentlessly cheerful mutt, Perroo, played by Harvey Guillen, is joining them on the adventure. The trio of heroes will also have to face off against Puss’s other nemesis on the wurst, including Goldilocks (Florence Pugh) and the Three Bears Crime Family, ‘Big’ Jack Horner (John Mulaney), and the bounty hunter The Big Bad Wolf, played by Wagner Moura.
Olivia Coleman, Ray Winstone, Samson Kayo, Anthony Mendez, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are set to co-star as well, with Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado serving as director and co-director.
