As more schools transition to a more STEM-focused curriculum, new software tries to help kids understand the complexity of coding. Rabbids Coding from Ubisoft aims to help kids connect to coding through the malevolence of the ravings Rabbids.
In Rabbids Coding, the goal is to try to clean up your spaceship that has been ransacked by Rabbids. For example, the player will command the Rabbids through instruction or by dropping sausages to tempt the Rabbids into doing your bidding.
This is not just a learning system, but a game in itself. The game will include levels, and a sandbox mode to explore after the fact.
Rabbids Coding: The Evolution of Edutainment Games
For someone looking for an advanced coding system, this might not be the thing for you. However, the dark energy of the Rabbids is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face.
As coding can be very hard to learn, the game easies players through not penalizing the player for doing something wrong. Above all, the system guides players in issuing commands and actively pushes to try different options
Rabbids Coding looks to introduce complete beginners to what coding is all about, without the complexity that can come from intense mathematics. While Super Mario Maker and Dreams can vary in intricacy, the new game hopes to focus in on value as an educational tool.
Ubisoft hopes to see the game in classrooms and other educational settings. For example, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey later added educational tour modes to learn more about ancient Egypt and Greece.
Looking at the interface, it seems evident a mobile version will be released, especially if Ubisoft is targeting classrooms, which are more likely to have multiple tablets versus a couple of computers running Uplay.
Those excited to jump in on the action will not have to wait long. Rabbids Coding will be available for free October 1 on Uplay for the PC.
