It’s a Rainbow Six Siege tradition to have content updates once a season, and this season is no different. Ubisoft recently revealed that Rainbow Six Siege’s next update is Operation Steel Wave, and will be introducing several new things to the game. Most prominently is their two new characters. Today, the team is revealing that the two operators for Attack and Defense are Ace and Melusi. To show off the characters, Ubisoft released a gameplay video showing how the new operators work along with the reworked version of House.
Starting with the Attacker, Norwegian operator Ace looks to break up the competition in Rainbow Six Siege. Hailing from the Norwegian Home Guard, Ace is seen as a hero by those around him. Following his appointment in the Forsvarets Spesialkommando, Ace managed to save Kali’s life during a UN operation in Somalia. She unsurprisingly had a NIGHTHAVEN invitation waiting for him. Ace brings along with him a new gadget known as the S.E.L.M.A explosive device. S.E.L.M.A. can stick to any surface, destroying up to three panels including reinforced walls. You can also throw it at any defender gadget to immediately destroy it.
As for the South African Defender, Melusi wants to bring a screeching halt to those who dare attack sites. She started out as part of the South African National Defence Force, looking to broaden her skillset. Following a bad injury though, she left the military to join the Inkaba Task Force Anti-Poaching Unit. Now she looks to bring her unique skills to the Defender side with her Banshee gadget. As soon as an attacker gains a direct line of sight with the gadget, it emits a deafening sound towards them. This slows them and impairs their hearing, making them sitting ducks for defenders. It also omits a sound when it’s got someone, giving defenders that precious intel.
This isn’t all that’s coming through. To go with these new operators is a rework to the classic Rainbow Six Siege map, House. There’s a lot of big changes to it, making it much better for gameplay and aesthetics. It’s almost a question if you can even call it a house anymore, as it looks much more like a mansion. On top of the rework is a unified MMR, Amaru Buff, Proximity Alarm, Echo Elite Set, and so much more! There’s a lot to check out in Operation Steel Wave, and we hope you get the chance to hop in and try it out.
Operation Steel Wave hits the Rainbow Six Siege’s Test Server on May 19th. It will release later on for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Are you excited for either of the new operators? Who are your favorite operators and why? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
