Rashida Jones will star in the upcoming Apple TV+ dark comedy series Sunny. It has a 10-episode order, with each episode being a half-hour long. It’s based on the book The Dark Manual by Colin O’Sullivan. Rashida Jones is also an executive producer for the project. Jones will play an American woman in Kyoto, Japan, named Suzie. Her life drastically changes when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. She’s one of the robots, Sunny, from her husband’s robotics company, and they gradually develop a friendship. Katie Robbins wrote the series and is producing it. Lucy Tcherniak (Station Eleven, The End of the F***ing World) will direct the Apple TV+ dark comedy series. Ravi Nanan and Jess Lubben from A24 will executive produce Sunny. Robbins wrote the series, Sunny; Jones previously played in another project produced by Apple and A24, Sofia Coppola’s On The Rocks.

She co-directed the film Grammy Award-winning film Quincy, about her music legend father. Now she will take on a role in a foreign country for the series Sunny. Since Rashida Jones is attached to the project, it’s sure to intrigue her fans.
