Earlier today, Sony held a conference during Paris Games Week where they had plenty to announce. Sony played up the event on their Twitter page, “E3 was only half the story,” and they totally delivered on that front. While showing off some new trailers for anticipated titles like God of War and The Last of Us Part II, they also revealed some of the new titles we can expect to see on PlayStation over the next year. Check out the highlights from the conference below!
Ghost of Tsushima
They began the conference by announcing a new title coming from Sucker Punch Productions, Ghost of Tsushima. This open-world title is set in feudal Japan; and yes, that means samurais! “You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting — the way of the Ghost — as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.” Excited? So are we!
Along with Ghost of Tsushima, Sony announced two additional titles to their exclusive line-up. Concrete Genie, the newest title from Pixelopus, is a painting puzzle game filled with absolutely adorable graphics. The conference then took a turn with its announcement of Erica, one of the first games to take advantage of PlayStation’s new, PlayLink. This live-action title lets players make their own choices in order to create their own narratives. As always, a slew of games for the PSVR were also showcased in a pretty impressive montage.
Monster Hunter World
The newest addition the Monster Hunter franchise not only showcased a new gameplay trailer but also announced an exciting collaboration exclusive to PlayStation. As promised at the end of the trailer Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn will be available as a playable character in Monster Hunter World. A beta exclusive to those with PlayStation Plus will also begin in December.
As always, Sony saved the best and most anticipated trailers for the very end.
Marvel’s Spider-Man
The newest trailer shows Peter Parker and Miles Morales finally uniting while continuing to show off the seamless, beautiful gameplay we’ve seen in the past.
Detroit: Become Human
Since its announcement at E3 earlier this year, I’ve been dying to see more about Detroit: Become Human. Much like the announcement trailer, the various different branches of the multiple storylines unfold very quickly. This time the trailer focuses on Kara and her evolving story. Unfortunately, there still is no word on an official release date.
God of War
The fight sequence in the newest God of War trailer will honestly leave you drooling. It is fluid and beautiful and appears effortless. With a release quoted for “early 2018”, I think it is safe to say that everyone is anxious to get their hands on this.
Shadow of the Colossus
Speaking of drool-worthy graphics, take a look at this Shadow of the Colossus trailer. This PlayStation exclusive will be hitting consoles on February 6th.
The Last of Us Part II
Of course, they saved The Last of Us Part II for last, and it sent the show out with a bang. After its absence from Sony’s E3 showing, the long trailer was a welcome surprise. However, its already creating a bit of a controversy with its violent trailer. With no sign of Joel or Ellie, fans of the series are running wild with theories as we speak.
Once again, Sony offered a fabulous conference with plenty of things to excite gamers for the next year or two. What are you looking forward to most? Anything you were hoping to see more of? Let us know in the comments below!
