The second, and perhaps last, gameplay video for Red Dead Redemption 2 has graced the internet and dives even deeper into what looks like one of gaming’s most immersive titles yet. In the almost five-minute-long clip, we see more of those gorgeous vistas, extremely detailed animations, and a much larger focus on gunplay. Contrary to the first gameplay reveal, this one focuses more on the raucous action of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Returning to the series is the dead eye system: a Max Payne-esque slow-motion mode that lets you paint targets in specific areas to shoot ’em up. New to the dead eye function is the ability to highlight critical and fatal points on your enemies.
Also featured in the video is the slew of leisure activities that you can take part in aside from the main storyline. This can range from playing poker at camp, attending the theatre, or hitting the saloon with a fellow gang member. You can also rob trains, hold up storefronts, duel those who antagonize you, or hunt bounties for cash. Beware, because your actions will have consequences, and those you do right or wrong by will remember it.
Character customization also comes to the forefront in Red Dead Redemption 2. This time around, players can choose what they wear, customize facial hair, control weight loss (or weight gain), and even bathe after getting dirty while out on the job.
Finally, one of the biggest new additions to the Red Dead franchise is a first-person mode that comes with its own animations and immersion factors that set itself apart from the third-person experience.
Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on October 26th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A number of special editions for the game have also been announced and released for pre-order.
