With this generation of consoles has come a wave of HD remakes and redos galore. One of the games most eagerly anticipated to get the high definition treatment is Resident Evil 2.
Resident Evil 2 is seen by many as one of the crown jewels of the series. It was a lot more ambitious than the first entry in the series, and it let us become intimately familiar with one of the most famous locations in all of gaming: Racoon City.
Resident Evil 2 follows a pair of compelling lead characters, Claire Redfield and Leon S Kennedy. This was our first outing with these characters, both of which would go onto lead their own games in the Resident Evil series- but just because this is their first time in the spotlight, doesn’t mean that the story isn’t strong.
The second game in the Resident Evil series follows these characters throughout Raccoon City, and has them meeting up at various moments but also having their own arcs and meeting other flagship characters of the Resident Evil, series such as Ada Wong. We find out about the G-virus, and we get to fight the Tyrant. Nostalgia aside, the game is beyond solid and has stood the test of time. An HD remake would sell like crazy.
First news of a remake surfaced in 2015. Seems they are remaking the game from scratch, as here we are in 2018 and still no word of the status of the game- until now.
A Japanese retailer has placed some Leon S Kennedy themed jackets up for pre-sale. The jackets prominently the logo of the Raccoon City police department, and sport a Leon nametape. Normally this might not seem like much of a sign, but with E3 less than a week away and these jackets having a late October release date- it all seems too much of a coincidence. Expect an announcement incoming soon.
