Virtual Reality has struggled to maintain its gaming audience. Despite garnering many PC gaming fans, VR has remained a niche tier of play. Despite this, many companies have invested heavily and released many new VR games to introduce new things to the platform. Yet, ventures from both Sony, Valve, and Meta have proved to be veritable. Yet, Capcom has been making a difference by exclusively releasing a Resident Evil remake on the Meta Quest 2. This release was controversial for some time due to the title laying dormant since 2016. Yet, while fans have been waiting for a bigger Resident Evil 4 remake, RE4 VR has still maintained a presence in the gaming space. So much presence that the title is receiving new content in an update available to all users. Resident Evil 4 VR The Mercenaries is the latest update placing players in horde-based combat with wave after wave of zombies.
What’s Being Added In Resident Evil 4 VR, The Mercenaries Update?
While initially used as a bonus mode in Resident Evil 3, The Mercenaries has made its way into many Resident Evil games. While the mode was most famously omitted from the Resident Evil 3 remake and Resident Evil 7, it’s finally back. Capcom listened to fan outcry with a time trial mode in Resident Evil Village. With all-new challenges made specifically for VR, these areas pit players in unique locations across Resident Evil 4. Pitting unique characters with VR combat mechanics in interesting combat scenarios make replaying the game worth it. Unlocking special rewards like big head mode or golden gun skins make the challenge worth it. The challenges offer an extra incentive for players looking to master Resident Evil 4 VR.
