Resident Evil Musical Coming to Japan

Do you happen to live in Japan or are you in the midst of planning a trip there? Do you obsess over both Resident Evil and the modern day musical scene?  If that is the case then you might just want to pay close attention as Resident Evil is getting the stage musical treatment in Japan this fall.

Currently titled, Musical Resident Evil, the show is scheduled to run in Tokyo from September to October and will move to Osaka in November.  The games adaptation is being overseen by Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi.

The production will be an original musical work and will feature Reon Yuzuki as its star.  Reon Yuzuki has become well known for playing male characters while at the all-female Takarazuka Revue and while she will be headlining this endeavor it is not associated with the Takarazuka Revue.

This musical appears to be only adapting the original game. Here’s to hoping that they eventually get around to my personal fave.

Musical Resident Evil will be handled by G2, who is both director and playwright and is currently preparing for a new Japanese production of My Fair Lady.
