Doctors performed Teddi Mellencamp’s melanoma surgery on Tuesday, October 25, and the actress is recuperating. Fans were delighted as Teddi Mellencamp shared pictures of her surgery scars and updates about her health. The RHOBH star had surgery to remove melanoma and lymph nodes after receiving a stage 2 diagnosis. Read on for more details.
Teddi Mellencamp’s Battle With Melanoma
Teddi first had surgery in March after her former co-star Kyle Richards noticed some alarming discoloration on her back. Eventually, she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma.
The 41-year-old explained that she didn’t go for her annual skin checks afterward due to anxiety. Teddi further disclosed that she didn’t think a lot could happen in three months, so she blew off her appointments.
“I so badly wanted to blow this off. ‘What could happen in 3 months?’ I thought. Apparently a lot,” she wrote.
The RHOBH alum revealed on October 11 that she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma during a recent follow-up appointment.
“Despite my anxiety, I listened to the doctors and went in for my 3-month skin check last week since my previous melanoma. They said I had another abnormal spot near my last one so they did a biopsy. I got the call this morning: Stage 2 melanoma,” she wrote.
The mother of four shared pictures of her skin before the moles’ removal. She also urged her followers to take precautions under the sun and reminded them of the importance of early detection.
“I continue to share this journey because I was a 90s teen, putting baby oil and iodine on my skin to tan it. Never wearing sunscreen or getting my moles checked until I was 40 years old,” she wrote in her Instagram post.“This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you to love and protect the skin you’re in.”
Teddi Mellencamp Shares Pictures Of Post-Surgery Scars
After her surgery on Tuesday, Teddi posted a carousel on Instagram. One of the pictures showed her with an oxygen mask on her face. The other pictures showed the area where doctors removed the melanoma.
“Lots of questions about updates. Here is the truth; there isn’t one, which may be one of the hardest parts about this. The waiting,” she wrote.
“Yesterday, I had surgery. I had melanomas removed. I had lymph nodes that lit up so they were also removed and additional biopsies are being done,” she continued.
Teddi emphasized that she shared the updates not because she wanted sympathy. Instead, she did it because of the fans who sent her messages that they already underwent melanoma testing.
The TV personality thanked her family, friends, and husband for their support through her pain and anxiety. She expressed optimism that she would beat cancer thanks to them and the medical team.
Thousand of fans and friends sent their good wishes after doctors performed Teddi’ss melanoma surgery. Fellow Bravo stars also wished her a quick recovery.
Thankfully, Teddi is recovering nicely. Hopefully, her results come out positive, and this will be the last of the reality star’s battle with melanoma.
