Become the best Rick in this new mobile game Rick and Morty: Clone Rumble. The new gacha and turn-based game and sequel to Rick and Morty: Pocket Mortys. Currently, it is on its soft launch and is available in select countries. Now is your chance to climb your way to Rickcess and be the ultimate Rick in the legendary Rickmania. Here are our first impressions of this new free mobile game.
You’ll start just like any other Rick and Morty adventure, inside Grandpa Rick’s garage. It looks like you’re just in time for Rickmania. With Rick Sanchez being himself, Morty Smith doesn’t have a choice but to join his grandpa’s new adventure.
Now let us talk about the game’s graphics if we were to compare it to the previous mobile game. Rick and Morty: Pocket Mortys is in 2D graphics while Rick and Morty: Clone Rumble has 3D graphics. It is open-world so you can interact with the characters in every scene. We tried to interact with items such as the living room laptop or TV but as of this writing, you can only interact with characters. It is probably because the game is still on soft launch, but we’re not certain.
Ready to start your Rickventure? As a free-to-play mobile game, this game uses energies. These green energies that you will see on top of your screen are what you need before you travel. Think of it as your green gas. Once depleted, it will get replenished over time. Before you hop on your very first adventure, you will need to set your party. A party will consist of a maximum of three clones. Make sure you don’t forget to bring any requirement clone before transporting in the multiverse.
Once you’re in, breathe in the atmosphere. Explore the world and talk to different characters in the scene. You may experience a bug while you soak in the location, but again, the game is still at its infancy. As we weave through the site, seems like there are no hidden items yet which are usually inside Morty trashcans. While you’re at it, complete any quest on the upper right side of the screen that may pop out. This may ask you to battle a certain Rick or character or gather a few items on the spot.
Itching for your first Rick and Morty: Clone Rumble? Attacks are turn-based and are done by “rolling the dice” and getting a random skill. This skill may be a single attack, team attack, or heal. It all depends on your clone. This attack or heal can get stronger if luck’s on your side and roll the same “dice”. Clones also have Strains, some attacks are weaker against others and some are stronger. So how would you know if your attack is at a disadvantage? You can check the circle below your opponent that looks like a gun crosshair. If it’s green like the one we have as an example, then you’re good. Red means you’re at a disadvantage. White, on the other hand, means that the attack is neutral or normal.
Get to meet your precious clones by going to the Clones tab. As of this writing, there are 27 unlockable clones. These clones range from Legendary, Epic, Rare, and Common. You can also see your Clone stats, skills, and needed items in order to upgrade them. These items are battle drops or quest rewards. Another way to upgrade your Clone is by getting DNA. You can get DNAs from quest rewards and the game’s Store where you can spend your Smidgens (pink cash) or by using Gold. Gold is hard to come by as they are like the game’s currency and is purchasable by real money.
Moving further from the Clones list, we saw a few Ricks that may be unlockable upon reaching a certain level in Rickmania. It is saying that you can get a specific clone by entering Rickmania’s Bonesaw League, Rose League, or Dick League.
As a gacha game, you can collect different kinds of Mortys and other characters in the game. You can use the “Get Clones” option that you will see in Grandpa Rick’s garage AKA your home screen. We recommend getting 18 of those Rick Coins before pulling, to get a higher chance of getting high ranking characters.
Verdict: Story-wise, Rick and Morty: Clone Rumble has that Rick and Morty humor. For the game, it is mainly luck that plays aside from getting a high ranking character from the gacha. It’s solid and as a Rick and Morty fan, it’s entertaining to play and get immersed in this Rick-eat-Rick world. It still has a few issues though as some characters repeat themselves, movement is a bit confusing, and there are still a few bugs. Overall, I will continue playing this game as I’m loving its humor.
