In a unique and unprecedented announcement, it has recently been revealed that Riot Games and Louis Vuitton have become business partners! Although the two companies come from entirely different worlds, their tentative union seems to show promise. Additionally, the partnership could have substantial implications for League of Legends, and for Riot in general.
Since there are likely many devout gamers who are not aware, an introduction may be in order: Louis Vuitton Malletier, commonly referred to as “Louis Vuitton,” (shortened to LV), is a French fashion house and luxury retail company. If that seems surprising, that’s because it genuinely is! Riot Games, owners, and proprietors of one of the most popular MOBA titles of all time have partnered with a high-end fashion company.
Perhaps the most blatant and immediately noticeable product of this partnership is the League of Legends 2019 World Championship theme. This year’s worlds theme is inspired and influenced by Louis Vuitton and is, therefore, quite stylish. As shown, the theme could certainly be interpreted as “minimalist.” However, the beauty of its simplicity is undeniable!
LV not only inspired the theme of this year’s tournament, however. The designer company also assisted in crafting the case in which the Worlds trophy will be carried!
Stunning. Hopefully, this aesthetic is found to be pleasing, because there is more of it to come! As it turns out, Riot Games and Louis Vuitton will also be collaborating on in-game skin designs. That’s right! For the first time in League history, a fashion company will be assisting in the development of a skin line. If the Worlds theme is any indication, these designs are sure to be immaculate.
All things considered, partnering with a French label for a tournament held in Europe does make sense. And the results speak for themselves! Make sure to be on the lookout for news updates on the collaboration between these two titans!
