One of Riverdale’s most hated villains, Nick St Clair will return to face off against Archie and his friends after the seven-year time jump. Graham Phillips, who has portrayed the character since season two of Riverdale, posted his return on Instagram. The post in question reveals that Phillips is shooting in Vancouver currently where the rest of the cast of Riverdale films. It is not clear exactly when or for how long Nick St Clair will appear on Riverdale. But in the past, he has always been one to shake up the cast of characters.
Nick St Clair was introduced as a former friend of Veronica’s from New York. Veronica had admitted that they always had a flirtation, but nothing ever came of it. Nick gave context to Veronica’s shady family and the elite lifestyle she led in New York. He became infamous after trying to force himself on Veronica and drugging Cheryl. He has continued to return every so often as an easy villain for the teens to face off against. Nick turned from a New York playboy to a real danger after his run-in with Archie. Like Veronica’s family, his own had dalliances with crime and he proved this after kidnapping Archie for ransom.
Riverdale’s Seven Year Time Jump
Since the seven year time jump, Riverdale has been bringing back past favorites. Already this season has devoted an episode to Josie and the Pussycats and brings back the musical trope. Season six will be the first time Josie and the Pussycats were featured all together since their characters were phased out in season two. Also recurring and unresolved are the characters of Charles and Chic. Both have connections to Betty and her mysterious serial killer genes.
Nick was last seen during season four. There is no telling where he has been in the intervening seven years. But with Hiram and Reggie still causing the main characters significant issues, it is sure that a Nick St Clair return will cause chaos. The season finale of Riverdale will air on October 6. The sixth season is reported to premiere on November 16.
