Robert Downey Jr. is a hero for so many people, someone people look up to for the greatness he has done especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark. Downey, however, can be known for his dark past, which only makes him more inspiring for many. Robert Downey Jr. Opens Up About Fighting Addiction
Robert Downey Jr. recently did a Netflix documentary about his father, Sr, and talked about he had been aware of what his father and mother had been doing in their basement of the house growing up, and soon he too even joined them causing his early drug addiction to start at the young age of eight. He also admitted that it became a game of whether he could keep himself high…however this then slipped into addiction for the actor.

Robert Downey Jr.’s drug addiction was not hidden when it came to his acting career, having faced jail…however, the actor made an outstanding comeback when he was cast as Tony Stark, Iron Man in the MCU which started off the whole universe. It was a while before Robert Downey Jr. could really fight his addiction head, and that didn’t happen until his mother died from ALS…this was a traumatic event for his family. After this, Downey’s father realized just how important the people he loved, his family, were to him and how being without them was a huge fear for him. This was enough to push his recovery from addiction and to make both their lives better for themselves and also one another. Robert Downey Jr. is an inspiring man for this very story…that it is never too late to turn things around and become a hero.
