Robert Kirkman may be known for The Walking Dead, but the man’s a well-established writer of many other works of art as well. He is working on a new series called Stealth, and the miniseries is being adapted into a feature-length film by Universal Pictures. Martin Scorsese can soon add another vigilante superhero movie to his list of hated works of art now.
The story follows a vigilante named Stealth as he fights crime in the city of Detroit. It’s a new scenery for the superhero scene as the majority take place in New York or Manhattan. Unless you count the one-time, Spider-man ended up in a suburb where his powers were obsolete.
For decades, Stealth has waged war on crime in Detroit, but now he’s taken his pursuit of justice too far. Only reporter Tony Barber knows that behind Stealth’s reckless behavior is an older man battling Alzheimer’s—his father. A father unwilling to accept that he’s no longer the hero this city needs… with enemies all too eager to force his retirement.”
Stealth appears to get his inspiration from other superheroes such as Iron Man and Black Panther. Though not set in the same universe, his suit looks like it could be one Tony Starks would build for Falcon. The Black Panther inspiration can be seen in the cover art by Jason Howard. It’s a shot pulled straight from Captain America: Civil War.
We are absolutely overjoyed with the teams we’ve put together for both the comic and the movie and can’t wait for you guys to see more of this!”
Stealth was created by Kirkman and Marc Silvestri (Cyber Force, Witchblade); is written by Mike Costa, with art by Nate Bellegarde, colors by Tamra Bonvillain, and letters by Sal Cipriano.
Image Comics will publish the six-issue miniseries on March 11, 2020.
