Robin Roberts And Amber Laign Dated For 18 Years
Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts gave a huge announcement on Monday during the show. The journalist revealed that she is ready to say yes to her girlfriend of nearly 18 years, Amber Laign, in 2023.
“I’m saying yes to marriage. We’re getting married this year,” the news anchor told author and motivational speaker Gabrielle Bernstein. However, Robin also admitted she was hesitant to share the news because she had not “said it out loud yet.”
Gabrielle encouraged Roberts to “create a wedding vision board,” but Robin, still flustered, began fanning herself with her cue cards. “I can’t believe I said that,” she joked.
Robin Roberts and Amber Laign started dating in July 2005. However, Robin only came out as gay in December 2013. The duo celebrated their milestone 15th anniversary in 2020. Amber also shared on Instagram how she met the newscaster on a blind date.
“Having you by my side is a gift as we continue to navigate this thing called life,” the former massage therapist wrote at the time. Amber called Robin the kindest and most beautiful soul she had ever met and confessed that she learned humility from her.
The Plant Juice Oils co-founder continued, saying that Robin taught her always to treat people with great respect as they could be dealing with a lot.
“Beautiful…..absolutely beautiful. I love you with all my heart,” she concluded.
Robin And Amber’s Marriage Was Postponed Because Of Cancer Battle
The pair have weathered many storms together, including their battles with cancer. Robin disclosed on air that she and Amber talked about marriage in the past. However, they put it off when her partner was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2021.
Amber completed radiation therapy in July 2022 after enduring complications with chemotherapy. Meanwhile, the GMA anchor also needed a bone marrow transplant and survived breast cancer.
Robin and Amber are together today because they stood by each other. Their fans are also excited about the coming nuptials and wish them well.
