Roblox: How to Change Your Display Name

In Roblox, you can easily change your account’s Username and Display Name in the Account menus in case you aren’t satisfied with what you have right now. Replacing a Username, however, costs 1,000 Robux or around $15. But if you just want to change your old Display Name — the one that shows up over your character — you can do it free of charge.

Setting Up and Changing Your Display Name in Roblox

Display Names are shown in your Profile, Chat, Search, People lists, or over your character’s head. Unlike Username, it can be changed for free and is not unique to specific players; other players can also have the same Display Name as you. If you choose not to set a Display Name, it will default to your Username. Here’s how you can set up and/or change your Roblox‘s Display Name.

1. Login to your Roblox account.
2. Open the Account Info settings.
   • PC users can open it through the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
   • Mobile users can open it by clicking the three dots icon for the More options.
3. Look for the Change Display Name menu.
4. Click the edit icon.
5. Enter your new Display Name.
6. Press Save.
7. Refresh the page, and your Roblox Display Name should now be changed to the new one. Nevertheless, there are a few things you need to remember when changing your Name:
   1. Your new Name must pass the Roblox text filter to ensure it meets the Community Rules.
   2. You can’t have the same Name as high-profile users.
   3. The name must be between 3-21 characters.
   4. It should only include letters, numbers, and underscores.
   5. And as mentioned above, the Display Name can only be changed every seven days.

Changing Your Username in Roblox

In case you need to change your Username instead of your Display Name, here’s how:

1. Login to your Roblox account.
2. Open the Account Info settings.
   • PC users can open it through the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
   • Mobile users can open it by clicking the three dots icon for the More options.
3. Look for the Change Username menu.
4. Click the edit icon.
5. Enter your new Username.
6. Press Save. Don’t forget that it costs 1,000 Robux to change your Username — even if you just want to change capitalized letters.
7. You can find the list of your previous usernames and revert to one of them on the Account Settings and Profile pages.

Remember that Usernames are unique for each account and are prefixed with an @. You can not use a name belonging to another account or swap Usernames with your alternate account. Other players can still see your previous Usernames, and your original account creation date will carry over.
