This morning, Rockstar Games teased an announcement for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 on their official Twitter page. Something is riding our way on next Thursday, September 28. Check it:

What could it be? A few ideas:
- Most likely, it is an official release date. Red Dead Redemption 2Â was originally supposed to release this fall for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it was delayed until spring of 2018. Hopefully, we will get an official date locked down next week so we can mark our calendars.
- In addition to an official release date, Rockstar may be teasing some new gameplay footage. Aside from the announcement trailer, we’ve seen nothing on the game. That could be changing next week.
- Less likely, but one I’m still holding out hope for: a PC announcement. The original Red Dead Redemption never made it to Windows, which is rather unfortunate. I would love to see what the mod community could do with the game.
The original Red Dead Redemption is one of the best (and some would argue the absolute best) games of the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 era. It was released in 2010 and still holds up today with other juggernauts in the “open world, action-adventure” genre. The wild west comes to life as you take control of John Marston, a former outlaw who is blackmailed into hunting down the members of his former gang. It won dozens of awards for its ambitious design, excellent dialogue and quest systems, and white-knuckle gunfights. A “game of the year” edition was released in October 2011, and the Undead Nightmare DLC was so popular that it was eventually released as a standalone game.
We’ll post more on Red Dead Redemption 2 as information becomes available. Check back next week after 11:00 AM EST to see just what Rockstar Games is hyping. Until then, practice your quickdraws.
