In his latest Rooster Teeth Vlog (“Taking Risks”), Burnie Burns revealed that the series would be coming to an end before the start of the new year. While sad for many, it’s not entirely surprising.
Ever since the company’s Co-Founder and current CCO started the show last year, as a way to celebrate the year of Rooster Teeth, he noted that it was more of an experiment, than a concrete series. Burns alludes to this in the video, even going so far as to edit in a question from the latest RTX Austin about the vlog, in which he jokes he likes to create things and then let others do the dirty work.
Burns has successfully managed to do just that as well, as not only has a Rooster Teeth First spin-off of the series been created for Barbara Dunkleman (Barbara’s Vlogs), everything points to his assistant Ellie Main talking over the mantle after he hangs it up. In “Taking Risks” he says he doesn’t know what the future of the blog will consist of, and if it will continue to center around Ellie’s apocalyptic training, but that she will likely keep fans up to date on things.
As of now, there will be at least one last installment in the Burnie Vlog series that will air before the year is out. Even Burnie doesn’t know what he will base it’s subject matter around quite yet though.
Burns ended the video on an interesting note, stating that he will be taking the time he normally spends on the blog and focusing on a new project with other Rooster Teeth Co-Founder and current CEO Matt Hullum.
“This is something I have been talking about with Matt [Hullam] for years,” Burns said. “Right now is the time when I think we should be making that project. I am super excited to get back to it.”
He goes on to say that while the Vlog never took off like he hoped it would, it reconnected him with the shooting, editing, and storytelling practices that helped make Red vs Blue successful. Practices that will likely benefit his new project as well, as rumors imply it will be a new show.
