The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 may very well be closer to release than we know. According to sources, the highly awaited sequel could be making a 2020 debut.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was and still is a remarkable game. The critically acclaimed adventure was arguably responsible for Nintendo Switches flying off the shelves upon release. Years later, the sequel is reportedly closer to release than ever.
According to a renown industry insider, Sabi, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 could hit store shelves sometime in 2020. In a recent tweet, Sabi reveals information he’s discovered about the game’s development.

In the tweet above, Sabi simply says “I would tell you Breath of the Wild 2 is planned to release in 2020, but Zelda release dates are historically delayed, internally or publicly LOL”. He goes on to write that this isn’t speculation but actual Nintendo plans at the moment.
Sabi’s statement could not be more accurate. Practically every major Zelda title from the last couple of decades has been delayed. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was delayed from 1997 to 1998. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were both delayed a year as well.
Zelda games have gotten more intricate since the original on the NES. Breath of the Wild is certainly no exception. The game is massive. It wouldn’t be shocking to find they are taking things up a notch for the sequel and that it will take time.
Zelda fans around the world are chomping at the bit to see what’s next for our hero in green. 2020 could be the year the Switch gets another Zelda installment, but don’t hold your breath just yet. Whenever the game is released, it’s sure to be a juggernaut in its own right.
There has been little information since the release of the E3 teaser trailer a few months ago. With little to go by, it’s doubtful Nintendo will meet its current rumored release window. Perhaps they want to surprise fans, but only time will tell. We will certainly update fans as soon as more information is known.
