Rumor: Star Wars’ Cal Kestis To Get Live-Action Disney Plus Series

Star Wars Cal Kestis, Disney+ Jedi Fallen Order

Actor Cameron Monaghan from the Showtime series Shameless and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order might be getting his own Disney+ series. Monaghan played Jedi padawan Cal Kestis in the acclaimed action-adventure game Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. He is reprising the role in Jedi Survivor. Making the jump to live-action would be a big win for fans. This would allow the period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope to be explored by a character whose fate is uncertain, unlike the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Fans would also see their favorite Jedi Fallen Order characters like the Nightsister Merrin, Cere, Greez Dritus, and the droid BD-1. However, BD-1 is speculated to have already made a live-action appearance in the Book of Boba Fett.

Where Does This Star Wars Rumor Come From?

Star Wars News dot net first broke the rumor based on information by Kristian Harloff. Self-proclaimed pop culture expert, Kristian Harloff, said:

Rumor, rumor, rumor… Have to say that – not confirmed! Got this from someone I’ve trusted in the past, tells me this is a thing… The rumor itself, at the moment, is that there is a Cal Kestis show in the works for Disney Plus. The rumor is that [the actor Cameron Monaghan has] actually signed on to play the character from Jedi: Fallen Order in a live-action series for Disney Plus. There’s no production dates set, but my source tells me that this is happening.

Cal Kestis first appeared in Jedi Fallen Order. Outside his video game, he also briefly appeared in the novel Star Wars: Brotherhood. A Disney+ series of his own would be his first live-action appearance. However, it is worth noting that the sequel Star Wars: Jedi Survivor was stated to take place around the same time as the events of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. So, it is possible to see some crossover with Kenobi in the future if the rumors prove to be true.

Star Wars: Jedi Survivor releases sometime in 2023.
