Becoming a huge star can steer actors away from their personal life, so making big decisions to make a work-life balance is essential and, in some cases, tricky. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Reynolds talked about his year break from making movies as he spent time with his family.
The Canadian actor wrapped his time on Spirited, the Christmas Carol twist with Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer. When he finished the film, released in theaters on November 11 and coming to streaming Apple TV+ on November 18, it was family time for Ryan Reynolds. He lives outside New York City with his wife, fellow movie star Blake Lively, and their three daughters. Between school drop off and picks up, he continued to put in some work at his production company, Maximum Effort.
“I was still extremely active at Maximum Effort Marketing and Maximum Effort Production, but I could at least keep sensible hours and do school drop off and pick up for my kids.”
Ryan Reynolds comes off family time and a break from movies
Ryan Reynolds may have taken a break for family, but looking at his filmography shows no gap. The way production works, we often don’t see how the busiest people in Hollywood have time to have a lunch break, let alone drop off the kids at school. The actor has starred in multiple projects yearly for over a decade. In recent years, we have seen him in both Deadpool movies, Spirited, Free Guy, The Adam Project, Red Notice, 6 Underground, Detective Pikachu, and more.
The future is looking busy for the actor, which is a good thing for fans who are always hungry for anything that he stars in, whether a small or significant role. He has lined up Dragon’s Lair, Clue, Everyday Parenting Tips, Futha Mucka, Imaginary Friends, and the highly anticipated Deadpool 3, which will see the character make his MCU debut with Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine.
