The mounting pressure from current events in eastern Europe is taking its toll on all facets of life. Whether it’s economic or social pressure, there are many innocent people in the crossfire. Yet, many Ukrainian developers are fleeing to continue and preserve their work. This sentiment grows more and more common as the days pass and the war mounts even further pressure on surrounding areas. For instance, many border states with the two countries find themselves in very precarious situations. Such is the case with Belarus, causing many developers to shift focus. This comes with, of course, many unaccounted-for setbacks that add up to a huge amount of progress lost. This unfortunately is the case that Sad Cat Studios has found themselves in, the Belarusian-based developer creating REPLACED. Showcased at E3 2021 during the Xbox Bethesda showcase, the 2.5 dimension pixel platformer caught the attention of many. Yet, today Sad Cat Studios published a tweet confirming REPLACED’s delay until 2023 due to the studio currently relocating.

How Long Did Sad Cat Studios Delay REPLACED?
While the title was certainly one of the more anticipated indie titles from Xbox Game Pass this year, more time to finish will always improve the final product. Never setting a concrete date, REPLACED was expected this year. Yet, while Sad Cat decided to delay, fans can expect REPLACED to continue steadily. The development team will take time to find a new space to relocate. However, when the move is complete, Sad Cat Studios is sure to swiftly continue development. While that may take a while, it’s certainly the reason for an arbitrary release delay to 2023. Even though that day may be far away, be sure to check back for more news on REPLACED and Sad Cat Studios relocating.
