The 46th Saturn Awards were held on Oct. 26. This Awards Ceremony is presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films and celebrates the best in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. The event was hosted by Bruce Campbell, who has appeared in many films within these genres such as the Evil Dead franchise. Star Wars had a big night at the Saturn Awards as Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker won several awards.
For the awards this year, the group extended the eligibility for many films and TV shows as the Saturn Awards did not take place in 2020. This allowed films like Joker, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to be included in this year’s ceremony. The Rise of Skywalker went on to win five awards on the night including the Best Science Fiction film. Star Wars also had success on the television side, The Mandalorian took home the award for Best Television Presentation.
Some other notable winners from the Saturn Awards outside of Star Wars were Once Upon A Time in Hollywood for Best Fantasy Film, Joker for Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture, and The Boys for Best Superhero Adaptation Television Series. In addition, the Saturn Awards also gave tributes to honorees including Christopher Lloyd, who received the Robert Forster Artist’s Award, and Mike Flanagan, who received the Visionary Award.
