Halloween might be in the rearview mirror, but horror fans continue to eat well from so much good news. The latest in horror is that Paramount Pictures has announced that Scream 6 will have its release date moved to a closer date. It was originally scheduled to hit theaters on March 31, 2023, and now shifted to stab in on March 10.
Scream 2022 (aka Scream 5 or 5cream for some) was a huge hit that revived the franchise to its former glory. The film grossed $140 million, putting it as one of the top performers for the genre this year. The green light was lit quickly after its release for Scream 6 with that March 31 release date attached. The quick turnaround is similar to the second film that came out a year after the original in 1997.

Since Wes Craven’s death in 2015, someone new had to come into helm the revival of the satirical slasher. After the success of the horror comedy, Ready or Not, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett reunited for this year’s entry of the franchise that brought back original survivors with new characters to figure out who has put on the Ghostface mask and started a new killing spree. They return to guide Scream 6 to its March 2023 release date.
Veterans of the franchise are returning with Courtney Cox and the fourth film’s Hayden Panettiere. This year’s entry will see Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding. Newcomers will see Samara Weaving return to collaborate with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, Spider-Man‘s Tony Revolori, She-Hulk‘s Josh Segarra, and more.
Not much is known about the plot of the new film. It will leave Woodsboro for New York City, giving a fresh setting since Hollywood in the third installment. Knowing the franchise, it will deliver funny commentary on film and horror, plenty of kills, and the types of personalities that attract Ghostface’s attention.
