Leadership on set can make the biggest difference in the experience for the cast and crew. In an interview with Collider for the outlet’s Ladies Night, its woman-centered interview series, Liana Liberato spoke about filming Scream 6 was a positive experience, mostly due to directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin making her feel “valued as an actor.”
In Scream 6, Liana Liberato plays a new character, Quinn Bailey. She is the roommate for the previous movie’s survivors, Tara (Jenna Ortega) and Sam (Melissa Barrera), and the daughter of NYPD detective (Dermot Mulroney), who is on the case of the recent Ghostface killings.
When looking back on filming Scream 6, Liana Liberato said that the directors gave her room to explore her own ideas for Quinn. While talking about their openness to her opinions, she felt she “had all the time in the world,” despite deadlines that hung above the Ready or Not filmmakers to meet the release date set a year ago after the success of Scream 5.
“It’s a real talent to convince your actors that you’re not working against the clock. I felt like I had all the time in the world with them. And they genuinely valued my opinion about my character and wanted to give me the time and space to execute those thoughts properly.”

It is a good time to be a fan of the meta-slasher franchise. The latest entry went on to open with $44 million, making it the largest opening weekend in the franchise’s history. Currently, it has grossed $119 million worldwide. The only installment not to reach $100 million was 2011’s Scream 4.
Coming off Scream 6, Liana Liberato is at a strong point in her career. She has a stacked line of projects to keep her busy. She will star in the adaption of Hush, Hush, a fantasy novel series by Becca Fitzpatrick; the comedy series Based on a True Story; Face, the adaption of FACE: One Square Foot of Skin, which is being adapted by the author, Justine Bateman; Left with Only Rain, a thriller starring Richard Kind; and the horror comedy Totally Killer.
