Eric Weinberg, an executive producer of the NBC sitcom Scrubs, has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, according to Los Angeles County law enforcement. The arrest is Weinberg’s second in recent months after the writer/producer was first arrested in July and released on a bond of $3.225 million.
Official statements by the LA County District Attorney’s office state that Weinberg has been charged with 18 counts of sexual assault relating to a series of rapes that took place in a seven-year stretch between 2012 and 2019. According to Deadline, statements collected by Weinberg’s victims stated that he had a preference for singling out women roughly in their 20s or 30s and likely leveraging his status in Hollywood to persuade them to do a photoshoot for him; if the women accepted his offer, Weinberg would invite them to his home in Los Feliz, California and brutally assault them during the scheduled “photoshoot”.
Eric Weinberg’s Career and History of Crime
In an investigation conducted by The Hollywood Reporter, reporters uncovered assault allegations against Weinberg that supposedly date back decades, all the way back to 2000 – however, it is unclear if these allegations are at all related to his most recent arrest, or the prior arrest in July. Eric Weinberg was first arrested over the issue in 2014, following charges pressed against him by 22-year-old Kayra Raecke, who claimed Weinberg had assaulted her during a photoshoot at his home.
In Hollywood, Eric Weinberg is possibly best known for his work as an executive producer and writer on the NBC comedy sitcom Scrubs, which premiered in 2001 and ran until 2010; Weinberg served on the show until 2007. Some of his other works include Californication (2007), Men at Work (2012), and FX’s Anger Management between 2013 and 2014.
More information regarding Eric Weinberg’s arrest will be made available through the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Reports state that Weinberg was released on a bond of five million dollars.
