Last month’s Sea of Thieves update was a necessary update but wasn’t the most exciting it had. It focused a lot on bug fixes and quality of life updates and while that made the game feel better, it didn’t do a whole lot in the way of content. Thankfully this month, the team at Rare is ready to show off some new and exciting content for players. Sea of Thieves’ Haunted Shores update released today and showcases a lot of new content for players to take part in. This is the first update since the game released on Steam earlier this month and should be great for the new players. The team accompanied the new release with a trailer, showing off all you can expect.
Haunted Shores’ biggest and most ghastly change is the introduction of the ghost ships. Captain Flameheart’s forces are appearing on the Sea of Thieves and must be taken out before they control the seas. The Order of Souls has new bounties for Level 25+ members to claim, allowing them to take on these fleets. If you take out enough ships, you can take on the legendary Burning Blade, Captain Flameheart’s flagship. Be careful though as while his crew is fragile, they pack a mean punch. They can send out two new types of cannonballs, those being the Phantom and Wraith Balls. They can be devastating to ships, so plan carefully.
Those aren’t all though. Along with that, you can now select different shanties to play. There’s a large number of new ones too, so get in there and start playing new tunes with your crew. There’s also improved non-verbal communication, bug fixes, cosmetics, and new live events. The new live events in Sea of Thieves have you taking on sharks for Merrick’s Hunter’s Call, and getting increased rewards from the Ashen region. All of this new content should not only make the game feel better but also improve content to give players more to do. If you’d like to see the full patch notes, you can find those here.
Be sure to head out onto the Sea of Thieves and let us know what you think pirates. We’d love to hear about your tall tales against these new ships. Without further adieu, stay tuned here at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
