It’s with a heavy heart that we have to bring you news of the passing of Sir Sean Connery, the legendary actor, and James Bond star. As reported by the BBC, the legendary actor passed away in his sleep overnight in the Bahamas. He had apparently been unwell for some time.
No cause of death has been announced, but he is said to have peacefully passed in his sleep, with many of his family members around him. He was 90 years old, having celebrated the landmark birthday in August.
Born in Scotland in 1930, he appeared in countless movies, TV shows, and even video games; Sean Connery was, of course, best know for his stint as James Bond. He played the spy in 5 movies, first taking on the character in 1962’s Dr. No. Arguably, there has been no better Bond.
Fans will also fondly remember his performances in movies such as Indiana Jones and The Untouchables. He even won the best supporting actor Oscar in the crime drama. He also won two BAFTA awards and three Golden Globes during his long career.
In 2000 he was knighted by the Queen, making him Sir Sean Connery forevermore.
Since his family has confirmed his passing, numerous tributes have poured in for the screen legend. BAFTA said the following:
“We are very sorry to hear of the death of British acting legend Sir Sean Connery. He was a BAFTA fellow, a BAFTA special award recipient, and won a leading actor BAFTA in 1988 for The Name Of The Rose.”
The number of tributes has steadily been pouring in from people all over the world, heartbroken at the loss of a special talent.
