Sonic Origins Plus: New Games, Playable Amy, and More!
Sonic Origins Plus is an expanded edition of the original Sonic Origins that was released last year and includes even more classic content for fans of the Sonic franchise, old and new, to enjoy.
The base game, including the original Sega Genesis and Sega CD titles – Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992), Sonic CD (1993), Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (1994) – will be in Sonic Origins Plus alongside eight other titles part of the Sega Game Gear, for a total of 16 different classic Sonic games.
The eight additional titles include Sonic Chaos (1993), Sonic Spinball (1993), Sonic Drift (1994), Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble (1994), Sonic Drift 2 (1995), Sonic Labyrinth (1995), Tails Adventure (1995), and Sonic Blast (1996).
All previously released Sonic Origins DLC will be available. Additionally, Amy Rose will be available as a playable character for the first time. She will be playable in the four titles available in the base game.
The original Sonic Origins launched on June 23, 2022 – which was officially the 31st birthday of the character, Sonic the Hedgehog – for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Plus will subsequently launch on June 23, 2023, on those same platforms as both a downloadable and retail release. Both will be $39.99 on their own, and those who purchase the physical version will get a 20-page art book and a Sega Genesis Reversible Cover containing the game.
Players who have already purchased Sonic Origins can simply download the expansion through the $9.99 Plus Expansion Pack available via the game’s digital marketplace.
