Actress Estelle Harris has died at the age 0f 93. Harris was known for her role as George Costanza’s mother on Seinfeld and for providing the voice of Mrs. Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise. Harris’ son Glen told Deadline, “It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25 pm. Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy, and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.” Harris died of natural causes, and she was weeks away from what would have been her 94th birthday.
The Unforgettable Career of Estelle Harris
Harris began her career in commercials before landing small roles in the 1977 films Looking Up and Summerdog. She also had a small part in Once Upon a Time in America (1984). She landed the role on Estelle Costanza on Seinfeld in 1992 and made 27 appearances on the show.
Other than her comedic timing, Harris may have been best known for her distinct voice. Variety reports that this landed her unique voiceover roles in movies such as Brother Bear (2003) and TV shows such as Hercules, The Wild Thornberries, and Godzilla: The Series. However, her work as Mrs. Potato Head in the second, third, and fourth Toy Story movies will remain her most beloved voiceover role.

While her work on Seinfeld will always be her signature role, some younger folks will remember Estelle Harris for a different role. The actress made 14 appearances on the Disney Channel series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody as Muriel’s lazy hotel maid. This role and those in Seinfeld and the Toy Story franchise made Estelle Harris a star to older and younger audiences alike.
