A new trailer for the skateboarding simulator Session features gameplay clips from players. The trailer is the result of a month-long contest in the Session community. The video was published alongside a press release earlier today.
Developer Crea-ture Studios and publisher NACON had this to say about the trailer and the competition:
“Following a month-long competition open to the entire community, NACON and Crea-ture Studio selected 7 of the most impressive videos, in which each participant performed and recorded perfect skateboard tricks. The in-game tool, which is unique in the genre, lets the player film stunts, add filters, add a fisheye effect and edit directly in the game. And as the playing area in Session is incredibly vast and realistic, skaters have a great time. The skater catchphrase, “If it’s not on tape, then it doesn’t exist” is illustrated to a T in Session.”
The new trailer features Session players performing tricks, jumping over obstacles, and grinding their skateboards along rails. Many of these tricks are nothing new to veterans of the skateboarding simulator genre. However, Session claims to be different from its predecessors. The game is played with a controller that uses “True Stance Stick controls” to give players more control over their virtual skateboarders. According to Session‘s Steam store page:
“Don’t be fooled by copycats and experience the real pioneering dual stick board control feature! Session offers for the first time a per foot stick control giving you the full power in your hands where each stick represents a foot. Careful though, skating switch now has a real meaning.”
Session is still in development, and players can expect more content to be added in the future. There is no word yet on what the next content update will include, but today’s press release ended with a promise of more news to follow later this month.
Session is currently in Early Access on Steam. It is also available for Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X via Xbox Game Preview.
