A whole year ago, many factories shifted from making common goods to producing personal protective equipment. The necessary production of PPE is what helped curb the spread during the pandemic. With masks having overtaken our daily lives, many have tried to figure out how to improve the rather simplistic design. With varying degrees of change, gaming component company Razer is trying its hand. Originally seen at CES as project Hazel, Razer’s new mask is officially named Zephyr. With two RGB ring lights around the intake vents, the stylish mask is sure to release for a hefty cost. Starting today, fans can go sign up and be the first to beta test their upcoming Razer Zephyr facemask.

How is Razer Zephyr different than Project Hazel?
While details on what the beta will actually be like, we can assume these production models will be used to finalize the project. With much intrigue and speculation over the production of such a product, many never expected it actually to release. While they have released other peripherals like smart glasses with Razer Anzu, this invention is hopefully much more useful. With the continuing need for masks to slow the spread of the pandemic, many might consider Razer’s foray into PPE a necessity. Despite never having produced much more than gaming peripherals, the Razer Zephyr facemask design is very intriguing.
While the design of Zephyr is certainly different than Hazel’s, they fundamentally function the same. The Razer Zephyr beta mask is seemingly a little wider for a more comfortable fit. Presumably, this also makes plenty of room for the voice amplification microphone. The active ventilation and self-cleaning features of the case are perfect inclusions to ensure a long reusable lifespan. Thankfully, the beta versions are likely to give us a better idea of the final design. The upcoming beta release bodes well for the launch in the 4th quarter this year. Depending on how the beta soft launch program goes, the Razer Zephyr facemask will hopefully be worth the cost to upgrade.
