Back in March, Rebellion announced the release date of the next game in the Sniper Elite series. Sniper Elite 5 is scheduled for release on May 26th. Now, the new game is almost upon us, just days away. Today, Rebellion shared more about the upcoming game and what they call “The Art of Stealth” in a new video.
The new video focuses primarily on the authenticity and versatility of stealth in Sniper Elite 5. The video and accompanying announcement feature commentary from Paul Biddiss, who serves as both game’s military advisor and the motion capture artist for protagonist Karl Fairburne. Before working on the new Sniper Elite game, Biddiss had over two decades of personal experience in the military. He has also been the military advisor on many other projects. He attests to the authenticity of the maneuvers players will see Karl use in Sniper Elite 5.
“Speaking about his involvement in the game Paul said: ‘All the takedowns are realistic to the training that was given to SOE operatives… everything is realistic. There is no embellishment.'”
Sniper Elite 5 Will Give Players Many Choices for Stealth Gameplay
The new video also showcased the many ways in which the player can navigate Sniper Elite 5. According to today’s announcement, players can find ways to complete missions without killing anyone. Of course, the lethal approach is still a viable option. However, players who want to be truly stealthy will need to monitor their noise level.
“The new video also gives details of the other stealthy options open to Karl including new traversal mechanics which open up hidden areas of the maps as well as giving the player alternative routes to approach their objectives. The player will also have to consider the audible distance of both their weapon and ammo when taking a shot if they want to remain undetected.”
Players excited to practice “The Art of Stealth” in the new Sniper Elite game don’t need to wait much longer. Sniper Elite 5 launches on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC on May 26th.
