Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, and Aristotle Athari aren’t returning for Season 48 of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson have previously left the NBC sketch comedy show. Lindsay Shookus, who handled the talent relations for SNL will also not be returning. The 2020-2021 season was the most watched season of the NBC sketch comedy show for ages between 18 and 49. Melissa Villaseñor, Alex Moffat, and Aristotle Athari not returning for the next season of SNL is a shock, but not a surprise. Many comedians of the series have left to pursue bigger and better things. Athari was only on SNL for one season; Villaseñor and Moffat joined in 2016. Heidi Gardner, Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, Mikey Day, Chris Redd, and Bowen Yang still remain. No information has been shared concerning the return of Colin Jost, Michel Che, Kenan Thompson, and Cecily Strong.
