Monster hunters, are you ready to go fast?! Announced in a trailer earlier today, a Sonic collaboration is coming to Monster Hunter Rise in the form of free DLC to celebrate the hedgehog’s 30th anniversary.
Characters from Sonic will not actually appear in the game, but there are new armor sets inspired by the popular franchise. The trailer shows off “Sonic Wear” layered armor for the Hunter and “Canyne Tails” layered armor for your Palamute.
Palicos also have layered armor that transforms them into Sonic himself! It even gives them a special new ability– Spin Dash. When using a Felvine Bulb to power up your Palico, a special animation featuring the seven Chaos Emeralds will turn them into Super Sonic.
The DLC will also feature two new special events that allow Hunters to collect Sonic-inspired rings in different environments. Sonic figurines will even be available for decorating your room upon completing quests.
This isn’t the first collaboration featured in Monster Hunter Rise. Earlier this year, Capcom announced a Mega Man event that launched in September and a Ghosts ‘n Goblins event that launched in October. Like the Sonic event, both DLCs featured unlockable armor sets inspired by different characters.
The Sonic collaboration is rushing onto Monster Hunter Rise on November 26, 2021.
Monster Hunter Rise originally released on March 26, 2021, and is available now on Nintendo Switch. However, it is also available for preorder now on Steam; the Steam release is set for January 12, 2022. A “massive” expansion, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, will be available in Summer 2022.
