Sonic Origins graced our glorious screens in June 2022. They came packaged with remasters of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic 3, Sonic CD, and the original Sonic, all developed by Headcannon Games in Sonic Origins Plus.

But Sonic Origins was compiled in-house over at Sega, using the remasters, and one of the developers at Headcannon, Simon Thomley, stated he wasn’t quite happy with how things turned out.
Back then, Thomley had a few words to share. He stated that he wasn’t quite happy with the way things turned out. There were issues with what Sega got its hands on. Following up, he stated that he wasn’t going to lie. The Sonic Origins Sega published wasn’t what they turned in.
Sega gave Headcannon a brief development period. With a major time crunch at hand, they worked themselves into the ground. They offered to make some post-release updates and fixes, which sadly went unresponded.
But that changes now because Headcannon confirmed today on Twitter that they were going to have their fair share of time in the development of Sonic Origins Plus. It seemed there was some sort of ill will between Sonic Team and Headcannon that has finally been resolved.
“I love Sonic, as does everyone at Headcannon, and Sega knows it,”
“We know the same is true of our friends at Sega. I’m grateful to have had the chance to work with them in bringing Sonic Origins Plus to life as well as other past titles. We all want the best for Sonic’s future.”
Headcannon went on to share some more information about their hand in Sonic Origins Plus. Knuckles is now playable in Sonic CD along with Amy. The pixels are supposedly getting shinier in the upcoming remaster.
